DEFINITION OF FORCES SHOWN INTABLESTHAT FOLLOW

“Penetration force,” kilonewtons (and pounds) — the maximum sustained downward force, generated by the ripper lift cylinders measured at the ripper tip, which is required to raise the back end of the vehicle with the tip on ground and the shank (pinned in the top hole) vertical.

“Pryout,” (Breakout) kilonewtons (and pounds) — the maximum sustained upward force, generated by the lift cylinders measured at the ripper tip. Breakout force is measured with the shank in the top hole, shank vertical and ripper full down. Breakout force may be hydrauli- cally or balance limited.
